Just got the update from Everett City Spokesperson Kate Reardon who tells me that all lanes of Broadway are open but 34th street at Broadway will be closed for some time. Three businesses suffered water damage but no dollar estimate yet. Apparently old age was the cause of the pipe failure. It dates back to the 1950s.
Crews are getting ready to turn the water back on after a 12 inch water main broke shortly after midnight at 34th and Broadway. The main has been repaired and the water should be coming back on soon but it will be some time before the street is repaired. Public works crews say the right southbound lane of Broadway will be closed for several hours slowing traffic out of Everett a little for the morning commute.
