The new board member will be selected this Thursday.
On Jan. 6, 2014 the Everett Public Schools Board of Directors reviewed the applications of seven district residents who applied to be considered for appointment to fill the board member seat vacated by Jeff Russell who resigned on Dec. 1, 2013.
As per board policy, the board chose five of the seven candidates to interview on Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014 beginning at 3 p.m. in the Board Room of the Community Resource Center at 3900 Broadway in Everett.
The candidates selected for interview are:
· Caroline Mason
· Traci Mitchell
· Myrna Overstreet
· Kristine Petereit
· George Reynolds
Board President Pam LeSesne summarized the thoughts of the board with, “It is indeed gratifying to see so many highly qualified and obviously committed citizens step up with true interest in filling this board position. We look forward to learning more about each of the candidates during interviews this week. We encourage staff and the public to sit in on the interviews which will take place in Open Session beginning at 3 p.m. in the Board Room of the Community Resource Center.”

The candidate appointed to the position will serve as a member of the Board of Directors until that position’s term ends in 2015. In 2015, the appointee may choose whether to run for election to serve another term in that position.
